How the Storage Auction Works
Storage auctions occur when storage units have been abandoned or become subject to a lien. The contents of these units are sold to the highest bidder with the assistance of an auctioneer.
Both experienced bidders and first-time attendees are welcome. Before attending, take some time to understand the bidding process, payment requirements, and rules for removing items from a purchased unit.
Register for the Storage Auction
Anyone interested in bidding must register before the auction begins.
Registration will take place in person at the Garden of the Gods Self Storage front office on the day of the auction.

Storage Auction Rules
Please keep the following auction guidelines in mind:
- Bidders purchase the contents of the entire storage unit, not individual items.
- Each unit is sold through an open auction with no sealed bids.
- The contents of the unit are sold to the highest bidder.
- Winning bids must be paid immediately in cash.
- A cleaning deposit may be required and returned after the unit has been completely cleared.
- Winning bidders typically have 24 to 48 hours to empty the unit or rent the unit under their own name.
- Vehicles, watercraft, trailers, and other items requiring a title or registration will be removed by Klaus Towing on the day of the auction.
- Personal items, including photographs, identification, legal documents, and tax records, must be returned to the storage facility.
- Any firearms found inside a purchased unit must be turned over to local law enforcement.
Winning Bids Can Vary
Winning bids can range from less than $100 to nearly $1,000 or more, depending on the visible contents of the storage unit and the level of bidder interest.
Bidding prices can increase quickly when furniture, tools, collectibles, electronics, or other recognizable items are visible from outside the unit.
Because bidders are generally not permitted to enter or search through a unit before bidding, purchases are made based on what can be seen from the doorway.
Payment for Won Units
The highest bidder must pay the full winning bid immediately after the auction.
Immediate payment allows the storage facility to settle the outstanding balance associated with the unit. Once payment and any required deposit have been collected, the winning bidder may be able to begin clearing the unit that day.
